Laurie Rowan is an animator, illustrator, director and art director known for his distinctive style and unique approach to characterization and playful modular design.
Laurie began his career as a studio-based creative lead, then later a freelancer, creating content for clients such as the BBC, Channel 4, and Disney. His projects have achieved numerous accolades, including a Children’s BAFTA win, nomination and Lovie Award.
Over the past few years, Laurie has gained international recognition for his work, which has been featured on top-tier design blogs and publications, including It's Nice That, étapes and Gingko Press' Computer Generated as well as being featured on various "Ones to Watch" lists.
His unique style has led to an impressive roster of commissions across various mediums, including print, film, interactive media, concept and identity development for renowned clients such as Google, Microsoft, MTV, The New York Times, and The New Yorker. His work has received critical acclaim, including a Young Directors Award nomination, Vimeo Staff Picks, and festival selections. His animations have been exhibited and screened internationally, and his work has amassed over 925 million views online.
In addition to his creative work, Laurie is a frequent speaker at design events, podcasts, and universities around the world. He has shared his knowledge and experience in various capacities such as a guest lecturer for MA Animation at Central St Martins, one of the world's most prestigious art and design colleges and opening the 2019 edition of Pictoplasma festival.
